Do what you can, not what you can’t

Pragmatism must inform all of our ideals. When ideals aren’t backed by action they don't do any real good.

If it’s impossible to take action on something now, put it on the shelf and move on to something else.

Excellence is a universal language

Many things are lost in translation, but excellence never is. Do you have a message? Do you want to convince me of something? Be excellent. Excellence is so persuasive, because only things that are in some part true can be truly excellent.

The truth is effective

Honesty is looking squarely at the way the world is. Humility is having the sense to understand it. The closer you can accept and understand reality, the more effective your efforts will be to affect it.

Create worth

Pursuing wealth often ends in mediocrity. Pursuing craft often results in wealth. Wealth is not a synonym for money, but for value.

Flip-flops put shoes on the feet of the world

There was a time in history when most of the world went barefoot. A simple japanese sandal changed all that. A good idea, when paired with craft does great good. Philanthropy is a band-aid. Creativity is a cure.

Systems are for people

… not people for systems.
